Keep Peoria Beautiful's Iris Awards Applaud Homeowners

Beautification is contagious. That's why Keep Peoria Beautiful created the Iris Award, for homeowners who help their neighborhoods by taking extra effort in their own yards. Most years, about 40 nominations are received. Many recipients had no idea they were even nominated. All of them have neighbors who notice the care they take and appreciate it.

One Iris Award also goes to a neighborhood association that made an extra effort to restore a park or other area. read more


Tricorn Park Gets Second Life

But in its day, it added to the beauty of a neighborhood that already looked like a well manicured park with beautiful homes dotting it.

Turkey Festival Returns to Tremont for 44th Year

With attractions like bed races, strawberry shortcakes and turkey sandwiches, the Tremont Turkey Festival drew flocks of people over the weekend. More than 1,300 turkeys were cooked for the public to enjoy during the 44th annual event. Parking wasn't a problem for fairgoers this year.

There were plenty of parking spaces at Tremont High School, and a bus to shuttled patrons to and from the festival grounds. The buses held 12 to 15 patrons, but the wait wasn't long. read more
